Special Projects at Worcester Yacht Club

Help us manage feral cat populations

Support our community initiative, in partnership with Stand By Me Animal Care NPC, to provide safe and humane sterilisation for feral cats. Together, we can create a healthier environment for animals and people alike.

A Compassionate Approach to Feral Cat Populations

Located on the banks of the Brandvlei Dam, Worcester Yacht Club is home to a small community of feral cats. From time to time, this population grows beyond what the environment can naturally sustain. Rather than resorting to harmful measures, we’ve joined forces with Stand By Me Animal Care NPC to implement a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. This proven and compassionate method has been successfully used in countries like Greece and Turkey.

Through this project, cats are humanely trapped, sterilised, vaccinated, and returned to the club grounds, where they continue to live safely under managed conditions. Regular feeding stations and ongoing monitoring ensure their well-being and help prevent future overpopulation.
